County commissioners passed Resolution 2026-R-028 during the regular meeting on Oct. 20, officially expressing their support for Amendment 83, a potential addition to the state constitution regarding the right to hunt and fish. The board encouraged citizens to support its passage in the Nov. 3 General Election.
They voted to lower the speed limit on the entirety of Paonia's Fire Mountain Road, in both directions, from 35 to 25 miles per hour. The county engineering department conducted a report and recommended 25 miles per hour to improve sight distance compliance, making it safer for drivers to react and stop when needed.
