Community Pharmacies Boost Immunization Access and Coverage Post-Pandemic

Community pharmacies have significantly enhanced vaccination accessibility and increased immunization rates, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. Hashim Zaibak, PharmD and CEO of Hayat Pharmacy, highlighted how immunization services at his outlets have adapted over time. Prior to the pandemic, patients primarily relied on physicians for vaccinations. However, community pharmacies have emerged as the most convenient and accessible healthcare venues for immunizations. Zaibak emphasized that these pharmacies offer extended hours, including weekends and late evenings, making it easier for busy individuals to receive vaccines without the need for appointments or visits to clinics. This shift has positioned community pharmacies as vital players in public health efforts to improve vaccination coverage, leveraging their convenience and patient-centered approach to encourage higher immunization uptake.
