On Saturday morning, Samantha “Sam” Hawkins, the founder of Fishers of Men, coordinated a volunteer gathering at Harmony Christian Ministries. Participants from groups such as the Lions Club, Salvation Army, and Compassion Corsicana assembled to prepare and distribute 100 meals aimed at assisting Navarro County's homeless and underserved residents.
Hawkins launched Fishers of Men in March this year after over a year of community engagement. Initially, the group delivered 30 sack lunches per event, gradually increasing their efforts to serve 100 meals. Recently, their outreach has extended to providing food in Dawson and the Navarro Mills region. The Saturday meal featured barbecue delights, including pulled pork, sausage, macaroni and potato salad, beans, rolls, cookies, and bottles of water.
