During a Tuesday appearance on CNN News Central, Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) expressed uncertainty regarding the fairness of Illinois's congressional boundaries. He also noted the distinctive shape of his own district, implying potential gerrymandering concerns.
When co-host John Berman inquired about the fairness of Illinois's current congressional map—highlighting the 14 Democrats and 3 Republicans representation ratio, as well as the recent redistricting that arguably marginalized Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger—Krishnamoorthi responded, "I’m not sure. My district itself has an unusual shape."
He added, "Ideally, we'd have equitable maps nationwide, but presently, that's not the case. We must accept the current realities and work within them."
