On Monday, Connor Zilisch discussed on the 'Door Bumper Clear' podcast that he may need to undergo surgery for his broken collarbone. The injury occurred Saturday when he fell from the top of his car in Victory Lane at Watkins Glen International. Zilisch explained that opting for surgical intervention could accelerate his recovery process.

"I might have to get surgery for it," Zilisch stated. "Surgery can help speed things up by allowing the placement of plates and screws to reconstruct the bone. Shane van Gisbergen mentioned that he broke his collarbone in 2021 and had plates and screws inserted, then returned to racing the following weekend. Fortunately, the collarbone heals relatively quickly."
Impact on Racing Schedule
The 19-year-old was scheduled to race in Sunday's Cup Series event at Watkins Glen. Due to his injury, Trackhouse Racing withdrew the No. 87 car from the race.
