Reba McEntire revealed Dolly Parton called her prior to the country music legend's death.
McEntire, a country music icon in her own right, said she missed the called.
"She did call me the last of July, and I was in a meeting and I missed her call," McEntire told "Entertainment Tonight" . "I tried to get back in touch with her and I couldn't; never made connection. And then when my buddy called me and said, 'Dolly's gone,' I thought, 'I'll never know why she called me.'

Parton died earlier this month after a "brief battle with cancer," her publicist Marcel Pariseau said.
"After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones," Pariseau's statement said .
Parton was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville last month with kidney and autoimmune issues .
Her death was announced in a video shared on her social media accounts. It came after the beloved singer endured months of health issues.
