The one goal Oklahoma State coach Eric Morris gave to his team before the Oregon game was to to play “fast football,” and that was the only thing he said he was going to grade them on.
Upon further review, Morris said Tuesday after practice that 88% of the Cowboys’ plays were fast football and showed the intensity he was looking for. That was a recipe for success in the upset of Oregon on Saturday.
Last week at this time, the Cowboys had no momentum after the Tulsa loss, but they battled to turn things around in the span of a week. Momentum is back on OSU’s side more than ever, and keeping that edge it had Saturday is paramount moving forward.
“Proud of the effort, the intensity, but I think it just really goes to show you at our worst how bad we can be and at our best how good we can be,” Morris said. “… The preparation was key last week, and I thought our guys really bought into that. Just getting off the practice field here on Tuesday, I thought it was good. We’ve got a lot of older guys on this (team). We had some guys step up and definitely could see the leadership today and demanding the intensity and effort during practice.”
