PORT GAMBLE — A new course just over the Hood Canal Bridge at Port Gamble in Kitsap County provided a midseason test for Sequim and Port Angeles cross country runners Wednesday in the No.3 Olympic League meet of the season. .
The Wolves’ girls squad was game for the opportunity, finishing in a tie for the top spot in the team competition with Bainbridge with both schools totaling 56 points.
Sequim was led by sophomore Emily Bair who turned in her second straight second-place finish, finishing the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course in 21 minutes, 8.1 seconds, five seconds back of race winner Kingston senior Emma Grice.
Freshman Natalie Randall was seventh for the Wolves with a time of 23:00.7, while classmates Eleanor Jones ended up ninth in 23:04.9 and Cecily Erickson was 11th (23:09.9).
Another Sequim freshman, Olive Rossi, ended up 27th to round out the Wolves’ top five.
