Day 4 Update: Ongoing Security Operation in Kulgam Amid Sporadic Gunfire
Security forces and militants continue their intense confrontation in the Akhal forest of South Kashmir's Kulgam district into the fourth day, with reports of intermittent gunfire and explosions overnight, according to authorities. The operation, launched on Friday in challenging forest terrain, proceeds cautiously with slow progress. To date, one militant has been neutralized and their body recovered, while three soldiers have sustained injuries during the firefight, as reported by Kashmir News Corner.
Enhanced measures include the deployment of Rudra attack helicopters, surveillance drones, and elite Para Special Forces to locate the remaining militants. Security has been heightened with all entry and exit points sealed, and the operation is under close supervision by senior military and police officials. Reinforcements have been dispatched to intensify the search in the dense, treacherous forest area, with officials emphasizing that the operation will continue until the area is fully secured.
Further updates are anticipated as the security operation remains active.
