Delaware's Court of Chancery to Implement Automated Random Case Assignments, Marking a Major Reforms Milestone
WILMINGTON, Delaware—In a significant move toward judicial transparency and fairness, Delaware's Court of Chancery announced that starting September 15, 2015, cases will be assigned to judges through a randomized, automated process known as "wheelspin." This reform aims to eliminate subjective discretion in case assignments, promoting impartiality and integrity within the state's legal system.
Phil Shawe, founder of TransPerfect and a long-time advocate for judicial reform, expressed his support: "For over ten years, we've championed fairness in the Chancery Court. Introducing a randomized assignment system is a substantial victory for Delaware residents and the business community, ensuring decisions are made without bias.
