During its Sept. 14 meeting, the Derby school board voted to authorize a new lease agreement with T-Mobile for use of the cell phone tower at the north end of Panther Stadium (925 E. Madison Ave.)
While T-mobile’s original lease agreement expired in 2023, they have continued to occupy the site and make lease payments with the district’s permission.
Updating the lease, USD 260 and T-Mobile worked out a new agreement that will increase monthly rent from $1,100 to $1,850. Additionally, as part of the agreement, the monthly rent will increase by 15% beginning Dec. 1, 2028, with an additional 15% increase during each subsequent renewal — providing for four additional five-year renewal terms.
