GALLOWAY, N.J. — On Sept. 18, Student Transition Programs hosted a screening of the documentary “Leading Change: Dr. Vera King Farris,” to highlight the impact of Stockton University’s longest serving president.
Dr. Vera King Farris, the third president of then Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, began her tenure in 1983, and would hold the role for 20 years until she retired in 2003. Her contributions to the university include—but are not limited to—introducing six master degree programs and overseeing the opening of the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center.
The screening began with introductions from Nana Otoo, Student Senate President and contributor to the film, and Dr. Terricita Sass, Executive Vice President & Chief of Staff, who brought the idea of the documentary to the office of the President.
“I was inspired by our flag raising events,” Sass said about her inspiration to create the documentary, “We thought about how we might share her story to the next generation of students.”
