Dominik Mysterio has recently discussed the possibility of adopting a more heroic persona in WWE during remarks made over the SummerSlam weekend. At Night 2 of SummerSlam, Mysterio successfully defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles, with Rey Mysterio noting the tributes to Eddie Guerrero that occurred during the match.
Previous reports indicated that Dominik is being considered for a championship run in AAA, and he has now commented on a potential face turn within WWE. In an interview with WrestleRant prior to his SummerSlam match, Mysterio described his approach as a "wait and see" process, stating:
"I respond to what’s presented to me. Currently, I am being booed, but occasionally, fans chant the ‘Dirty Dom’ song, which always makes me laugh and smile because it’s amusing to hear everyone singing it together—especially since I’ve been receiving boos for years."
He added, "I don’t know if I’ll ever fully embrace it because I haven’t changed who I am. I’ve always been Dirty Dom. We’ll see how things develop... it has to happen naturally. You can’t force it."
