Dr. Marlon King named 2027 Tennessee Superintendent of the Year

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - Jackson-Madison County School System Superintendent Dr. Marlon King has been named the 2027 Tennessee Superintendent of the Year.

The announcement was made Sunday during the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents Awards Banquet in Gatlinburg.

King represented Tennessee’s Southwest Region and was selected from a field of eight Regional Superintendents of the Year from across the state.

Regional honorees

The regional honorees included:

- Mike Garren, Loudon County Schools, East

- Richard VanHuss, Elizabethton City Schools, First

- Dr. Adrienne Battle, Metro Nashville Public Schools, Mid-Cumberland

- Kim Worley, Dyersburg City Schools, Northwest

- Dr. Vickie Beard, Giles County Schools, South Central

- Dr. Justin Robertson, Hamilton County Schools, Southeast

- Kristi Hall, Fentress County Schools, Upper Cumberland

As Tennessee Superintendent of the Year, King will represent the state at the 2027 AASA National Conference on Education in Atlanta, Georgia.
