Dunmore authorities have apprehended Jeffrey Keels, a 28-year-old wanted in connection with two armed robberies in Allentown, and he is now awaiting transfer to Lehigh County for prosecution. The Dunmore Police Department informed Allentown law enforcement early Saturday morning about Keels's arrest, as stated in an official police release.
The incidents occurred on May 26, within a half-hour interval, involving a Speedway located at 733 Hanover Avenue and a Turkey Hill Mini Market at 2900 W. Emmaus Avenue. During these robberies, witnesses reported that a man dressed in black, wearing a red face mask, brandished a firearm concealed under his sweatshirt and demanded cash. In the first incident, the clerk refused to comply, prompting the suspect to attempt to access the cash register before fleeing. In the second case, the suspect successfully obtained money from the store clerk.
Following an investigation, authorities charged Keels with multiple offenses, including robbery, receiving stolen property, and simple assault. He has been detained at Lackawanna County Prison and is scheduled for extradition to Lehigh County to face charges.
