Rancher: Santa Fe County built Rail Trail on his property, illegally knocked down fence, Sept. 11

"I preferred the original rough and tumble singletrack that went right along the train tracks between Spur Ranch Road and U.S. 285. The new section was so soft with that large size deep gravel that my bike tires (700-38) sunk in. Not what I would call an improvement." Khal Spencer

"I live near this trail section and agree. The large size road gravel is soft in general and possibly dangerous on curves. I’m on it often and have to be pretty careful. I’ve wondered how much was saved by not using the decomposed granite that makes up the rest of the non-paved rail trail with a more solid and stable surface." David Darby
