BROCKWAY — Riding the momentum of a strong weekend performance at the St. Francis volleyball tournament, Elk County Catholic came into Brockway and established themselves early before going on to take a three-set sweep — 25-16, 25-12, 25-15.
In the first set, ECC staked an early lead, then pulled away, thanks to several multi-point service runs while limiting the Lady Rovers to just one such run. In the second, it was all ECC, as Brockway scored just one point at the service line.
The third started out as a different story, as the Lady Rovers roared out to an early lead, 6-0, thanks to a five-point run at the line by Kelsey Hertel. The scoring slowed again after that for the host, though, as they scored just one more point at the service line the remainder of the game.
“We were very pleased with our performance today,” ECC head coach Josh Burrs said. “We had a mission when we came in today. My relationship with Brockway is really good and close, and we had a mission when we came in that we wanted to take care of our business.
