Eco Wave Power Global's U.S. Wave Energy Pilot Project
Eco Wave Power Global has finalized the setup of its U.S. pilot wave energy project at the Port of Los Angeles. The company is currently conducting operational tests ahead of an official inauguration scheduled for September 9, 2025, at AltaSea within the port.
Technology Overview
The onshore wave energy system developed by Eco Wave Power involves attaching floating devices to existing marine structures. As waves move up and down, hydraulic cylinders are activated, transferring fluid to a land-based energy conversion unit that generates electricity.
Environmental and Design Benefits
This technology offers significant benefits, including a minimal seabed footprint, reducing environmental disturbances, and a modular, low-maintenance design suitable for port and coastal settings.
Project Goals and Collaborations
The Los Angeles demonstration is non-grid-connected and aims to showcase Eco Wave Power’s patented technology under real U.S. marine conditions. The project also seeks to collaborate with local agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, for environmental monito...
