The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has obtained a court order for the final forfeiture of a white Bentley Continental GT Coupe and a blue Toyota Venza, both linked to a suspected internet fraudster, German Daniel Onoriede. The vehicles were confiscated during a raid on his residence in Lekki, Lagos, following a police operation that led to the arrest of several suspected cybercriminals. The investigation uncovered documents indicating the Bentley was imported using funds from illegal activities, and revealed that the suspect maintained multiple bank accounts receiving over 500 million Naira from fraudulent sources between 2018 and 2023.
Additionally, the court granted interim forfeiture of $20,000, CFA 110,000, and a blue Nissan Almera, which was abandoned by a suspect at the Seme Border after police pursuit. The Almera contained the seized cash, which authorities believe was obtained through illicit means.
The EFCC's efforts are part of ongoing initiatives to dismantle online fraud networks, with authorities emphasizing the importance of asset recovery in combating cybercrime.
