The legal battle over WWE’s move to ESPN Unlimited just got a lot bigger, since two major companies have now been pulled directly into the case.
Pwinsider is reporting that a federal court in Connecticut ruled on September 18 that ESPN and its streaming partner BAMTech can join the lawsuit as official defendants, adding serious weight to a case that started with two frustrated customers.
The lawsuit began after WWE shifted its premium live events to ESPN Unlimited starting with WrestlePalooza 2025. Plaintiffs Michael Diesa and Rebecca Tobak claimed that WWE’s marketing made it sound like anyone already paying for ESPN through cable or a live TV service would automatically get access to WWE shows, only for many to learn later that their providers had not set up that access yet.

Diesa from New Jersey already pays over $100 a month for cable that includes ESPN, but he still had to upgrade his Disney bundle just so his kid could watch. Tobak, who uses YouTube TV, paid an extra $30 for the same access, then canceled it afterward...
