A typical Sunday draws plenty of people to the Center Street Grille in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, for an afternoon of food and drinks.
And as people enjoy their meals, many reflect on the ever-increasing price of gas.
"Everybody is kind of hoping that things will just level off," said Tracy Baker, co-owner of Center Street Grille.
As gas prices continue to climb across the country, local restaurants are continuing to feel the effects of those increases. Baker said that Center Street Grille has seen a steady increase in fuel surcharges from their distributors. Last month, the restaurant paid one distributor around $3,700 for beer, nearly $800 more compared to August of last year.
Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement "Obviously, if our costs go up, we have to figure out a way to either eat the cost or implement that into our pricing," Baker said.
Despite this, Baker said that they have not passed on the increased costs to their customers. However, she added that could change if gas prices don't come down.
