Memorial Drive: From Historic Route to Multicultural Corridor
One featured exhibit highlights Memorial Drive, a once straightforward route connecting the Georgia State Capitol to the nation's largest Confederate monument. Today, this vibrant corridor runs through Atlanta into DeKalb County, embodying a lively, multicultural community. Through Peter Essick's contemporary photography and artifacts from local businesses, visitors can explore the history and evolution of this significant thoroughfare. The display will remain accessible for at least 18 months.
"Lipstick & Fire": Celebrating Women of DeKalb County
Another exhibit, "Lipstick & Fire," celebrates the achievements of women from DeKalb County and beyond. It features stories of courageous women who broke barriers and paved the way for future generations, with the exhibit on display for a minimum of 18 months.
