Fall Craft Night helps connect Independence teachers and parents

Lima, OH (WLIO) - Some Lima students had a chance to make some crafts Wednesday.

Independence Elementary school held a “Fall Craft Night” for its families Wednesday evening. The families had a chance to make fall crafts and enjoy some snacks and juice. It also was a valuable opportunity for parents to meet the teachers and staff at the school and get updated on school programs, according to school staff.

“So I think the biggest thing for us here is just building relationships that school is not only for the students, but is also for the parents and the staff and off of us to interact together. Tonight specifically we are also getting parents signed up for our PBIS app, it’s a communication system and a points system that we use, so if they’re not signed up yet we’re also doing that while they’re doing the craft.“

The Fall Craft Night is one of many events held by the school this year to encourage parents to engage with their children’s schools.
