A fatal incident is under investigation, after 36-year-old David Pryce was killed during a boating event Sunday on St. Croix.
The V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources confirmed the death in a statement Monday and said the “vessel-related incident” is being reviewed.
The statement provided few details and did not include any information about what led to Pryce’s death.
The incident occurred “shortly before 2 p.m. during the Fun Run Marine event. Emergency dispatch received a 911 call reporting the incident. According to initial reports, bystanders observed an individual in the water, recovered the individual, and transported them to the designated staging area,” according to the statement.
First responders immediately began life-saving measures and Pryce was transported to Luis Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under review. Authorities continue to gather information regarding the events leading up to the accident,” according to the statement from DPNR.
