A federal court in Colorado has upheld the legal right of Bella Health and Wellness, a Catholic healthcare clinic, to assist women in reversing the effects of the initial abortion pill. The clinic challenged a recent Colorado law that criminalized medical providers from offering progesterone therapy to women who, after taking the first abortion pill, decide to continue their pregnancies. Previously, a temporary injunction was granted in 2023, and today the court confirmed this protection on a permanent basis. This ruling enables Bella Health to continue providing crucial support to women seeking to preserve their pregnancies.
"Colorado attempted to deny pregnant women access to life-affirming care that supports both their health and their unborn children," stated Dede Chism and Abby Sinnett, founders of Bella Health and Wellness. "We are grateful that the court recognizes our constitutional right to offer this essential assistance."
Rebekah Ricketts, senior counsel for Becket, commented, "This decision prevents Colorado from hindering women who wish to choose life for their babies, ensuring they receive compassionate medical care instead of being pressured into abortion."
