A widespread communications outage impacted internet and cell service in Fredericksburg on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 22, following two separate incidents, including damage caused by a vehicle crash into a pole.
AT&T and Spectrum both confirmed service disruptions in the area and said crews were working to restore service.
An AT&T spokesperson said the company was working with a third-party fiber provider to get services back up and running.
“We’re working with a third-party fiber provider to restore service in the Fredericksburg area following two separate fiber incidents, including damage caused by a vehicle accident,” the spokesperson said. “We’re actively working with this provider to resolve the issue so that service can be restored as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Spectrum spokesperson Craig Civale said a vehicle accident impacted poles and service in the area.
“Our teams are working to restore service in the area,” Civale said.
The city of Fredericksburg checked with its Public Works and Information Technology departments and found no reports of a city-owned fiber optic line being cut, according to Communications Director Sean Doerre.
