First Follow-Up Labs After Initiating Testosterone Replacement Therapy: Seeking Insights
After more than two months on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), I recently received my initial follow-up lab results. Overall, I was pleased to see significant improvements in various health markers, particularly the reduction in hematocrit levels, which I attribute to discontinuing iron supplements following a hemorrhoid bleed. This suggests that the elevated levels initially observed were likely due to supplement intake over time.
Additionally, I experienced mild prostate discomfort and inflammation intermittently. Fortunately, my recent PSA test results did not indicate any adverse changes. A recent digital rectal exam revealed slight swelling but no other concerns, and my primary care physician attributed these symptoms to my body adjusting to TRT.
Regarding hormone levels, blood samples were taken at the trough point last Wednesday, approximately 48 hours after my last injection. I administer 100 mg of testosterone in three weekly doses—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—injecting at 9 AM, with labs drawn the following Wednesday at 8:30 AM.
