Share Add Us On Google Add as a preferred source on Google MARSHFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) - Crews have completed a new permanent bridge at the Onion River Campground in Marshfield, replacing a bridge destroyed by flooding in 2023.
A temporary bridge was put up after the flooding, and the campground was fixed up to make it more flood-resilient. This week, crews completed the new permanent bridge.
Campground staff say next year will be their first full season without any ongoing construction in years. “It’s been such an adventure, and it feels like the river set us on course, basically, for a lot of improvement. And we don’t lament the flood. We’re grateful for everything that’s happened since, and we’re especially grateful now for this new start,” said the campground’s Jax Brown.
There are still a few finishing touches, mainly road paint, that have to be done.
The campground will now be back open through the end of October.
