BROWN DEER — Senior running back Jonas Meyer rushed 13 times for 135 yards and three touchdowns in Luther Prep's 42-0 Metro Classic win over Brown Deer on Friday.
Luther Prep (2-2, 2-0 in conference) had 214 rushing yards for the game. Senior running back Eli Schroeder added seven carries for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Senior quarterback Levi Nottling's lone pass went for an 18-yard touchdown to senior tight end Caleb Fitzsimmons.
"After having a bye week, it was great to see no let down by the team," Luther Prep football coach David Dodge said.
"We started fast against Brown Deer from play one and didn't slow down the entire game. During our bye week we practiced hard, knowing we needed to make a jump in improvement even without a game.
"Our offensive line did a great job opening up a number of holes in the run game for Meyer and Schroeder."
Fitzimmons was 6-for-6 on extra points.
"We struggled with extra points in weeks one and two," Dodge said. "This game gave us multiple opportunities to help solidify that special team."
The Phoenix held Brown Deer to 100 yards of total offense.
