Trailing 22-21 midway through the fourth quarter, the Houston High School football team scored 14 unanswered points to earn a 35-22 victory in a South Central Association game Saturday night at Salem.
The visiting Tigers turned the ball over on fumbles three times in the first half, but led 14-8 at the break thanks to multiple key defensive plays.

After leading Houston’s offense on a sustained scoring drive in the first quarter, sophomore quarterback Stryker Sloan left the game with an injury late in the period. Senior Kane Crawford took Sloan’s place and proceeded to score two rushing touchdowns and orchestrate a lethal ground game that the host Tigers had difficulty dealing with.
Crawford scored on a 59-yard dash early in the second quarter and added a 2-yard TD run late in the fourth period that effectively put Salem out of reach.
Sophomore Tucker Venn had another big night carrying the football, scoring on a 5-yard run in the first quarter, a 21-yard run in the third quarter and a 15-yard run in the fourth.
Crawford also ran for a 2-point conversion after Venn’s late TD.
