Case Overview
Tyler Lynn, a former staff member at the McCracken Youth Detention Center, appeared in court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing and requested the opportunity for criminal mediation. In May, Kentucky State Police arrested Lynn following allegations that he fractured the arms of two juvenile detainees during separate incidents on the same day. He faces two charges of second-degree criminal abuse and has been released on bail.
Legal Proceedings and Mediation
Lynn’s attorney, Sam Clymer, stated, "The prosecution seems open to exploring mediation, which could provide a neutral platform to review the case and potentially resolve the matter outside of court." This approach would involve a third-party mediator facilitating negotiations between Lynn and prosecutors.
Family Lawsuit and Victim's Perspective
The prosecutors have expressed willingness to consider mediation. This development comes shortly after the family of one of the victims filed a lawsuit accusing Lynn of violating the juvenile's constitutional rights. The lawsuit seeks damages and a jury trial, with further updates to be announced.
