A common belief suggests Hollywood is running low on original concepts. While independent films often bring fresh ideas, many major studio releases tend to be sequels or remakes. In this context, Freakier Friday serves as a sequel to the 2003 remake Freaky Friday, which itself was based on a 1976 film of the same name. Set approximately two decades after the events of the previous installment, Freakier Friday features Lindsay Lohan returning as Anna Coleman, now a mother to a teenage daughter named Harper, played by Julia Butters, known from Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. Anna is engaged to Eric, portrayed by Manny Jacinto from Top Gun: Maverick, who has a daughter named Lily, played by Sophia Hammons of Up Here. The blending of two families presents numerous challenges, with Anna’s mother Tess, played by Jamie Lee Curtis—also reprising her role—along for the ride. True to the franchise’s tradition, the characters experience body swaps. This time, both Anna and Harper switch bodies, and Tess and Lily do as well.
