Fresno State Announces EJ Warner as Starting Quarterback
Fresno State has officially announced EJ Warner as the starting quarterback to kick off the upcoming football season. Warner, a transfer from Rice University, will lead the Bulldogs' offense as they begin their campaign.
Early Career and High School Achievements
Hailing from Brophy Prep in Arizona, Warner was ranked as the 152nd quarterback nationally out of high school and initially committed to Temple University. In his debut game, he threw for an impressive 527 yards and five touchdowns against East Carolina, despite the team’s 49-46 loss. His performance signaled his potential as Temple’s future signal-caller.
Collegiate Performance at Temple
During his freshman year, Warner started all 12 games, amassing over 3,000 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He led all true freshmen nationwide in passing yards and ranked second overall among freshmen, behind North Carolina’s Drake Maye. However, Temple finished the season with a 3-9 record.
