Friends of Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge will present its October Second Sunday Program, Backyard Bears, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, in person at the Helen C. Fenske Visitor Center, 32 Pleasant Plains Road, Harding Township, and virtually on Zoom.
Bear sightings are increasing throughout New Jersey. Somerset County Parks Naturalist, Vanessa Darras, will help guests become educated in bear "etiquette." They will learn the "bear necessities" and walk away with a better understanding of bears and what to do when they encounter one.
