From Poacher to Protector: Cabo Verde's Endangered Sea Turtles Find New Guardian

After seven years of patrolling Cabo Verde's islands, Roni Nelson Batista Ramos has transitioned from poacher to protector of the region's endangered sea turtles. In the past, he hunted these turtles to provide for his family, as consuming turtle meat was a common diet among local residents. Now, he dedicates his efforts to safeguarding these vulnerable creatures on the very beaches where he once hunted them.
