Georgetown County launches port redevelopment website

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A new website has been launched for Georgetown County residents.

County leaders announced that Georgetown County Economic Development launched a website for the Port Redevelopment Master Plan.

“I want to make sure that this is truly a legacy project,” Economic Development Director Kelly Robertson-Slagle said.

The website allows community members to follow along with the project and share ideas for the Port of Georgetown.

“The site includes information about the master planning process, past and upcoming steps and an online form for submitting public comments. Comments are shared directly with the consulting team developing the plan,” read the announcement.

A public in put meeting will also take place for feedback on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Howard Center at 1610 Hawkins Street.

“We’re very excited about getting our community involved,” Robertson-Slagle said.

Officials said the meeting will begin with an update on the planning process, followed by breakout groups where attendees can dig into the topics that interest them most.
