PITTSBURGH — Logan Webb delivered a commanding performance, recording 10 strikeouts over six innings, as the San Francisco Giants secured an 8-1 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.
Webb (10-8) allowed just one run while scattering seven hits. This marked his sixth game this season with double-digit strikeouts.
Offensively, rookie Christian Koss and Willy Adames each launched two-run home runs, while Jerar Encarnacion added a solo shot off rookie pitcher Mike Burrows. The Giants' win marked only their third victory in their last 11 games.
Koss opened the scoring with a homer to the left-field bleachers in the third inning. Encarnacion's blast increased the lead to 3-1 in the fourth, and Adames' 18th homer of the year made it 6-1 in the fifth.
Encarnacion returned to action after missing nearly three months due to a strained left oblique.
San Francisco also received a two-run single from Patrick Bailey in the sixth inning.
Burrows (1-4) was charged with six runs over 4 2/3 innings.
For Pittsburgh, Bryan Reynolds contributed two hits and drove in the Pirates' only run with a single in the third. The Pirates have now lost three of their past four games.
