When catastrophic flooding swept through the Texas Hill Country on July 4, 2025, volunteer firefighters in Comfort were among those who answered the call.
They worked to help their community during a devastating disaster, even as the department faced the same challenge it deals with every day: limited resources and expensive lifesaving equipment.
Now, the community has a chance to give back.
The Comfort Volunteer Fire Department is holding its first annual Golf Classic on Friday, Oct. 9, at Buckhorn Golf Course in Comfort. Money raised will help pay for equipment, training, protective gear and emergency response resources.
