Survey Shows Growing Awareness of GLP-1 Weight Loss Drugs Among Americans

A recent survey indicates a substantial rise in awareness among American adults regarding GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy, which are utilized for weight management. The YouGov poll, published on August 2, 2025, reveals that over 80% of respondents have at least some familiarity with semaglutide, a drug originally prescribed for Type 2 diabetes that also promotes weight loss. In March 2023, only 60% of Americans knew about the medication, but this figure increased to 70% by March 2024. Furthermore, the proportion of individuals who have heard a lot about these drugs has nearly doubled in the past year.
