India women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur landed in Delhi on Thursday with the Asian Games gold medal, and footage from the airport shows her repeatedly raising a hand to shield her eyes from photographers’ camera lights as she made her way out.
What the video shows
Harmanpreet is surrounded by a pack of photographers and reporters, with microphones from ANI, IANS and PTI held up in front of her. Over the course of the clip she puts a palm up towards the cameras, turns her face away and at one point covers her eyes with her hand, while continuing to stand and speak with the media pack rather than walking off.
Several Indian outlets described her as appearing irritated by the repeated flashes. She did not say anything about the photographers, and no comment from her on the moment has been reported.
The medal she came home with
Harmanpreet was returning from Aichi-Nagoya, where she captained India to a 147-run win over Sri Lanka in the gold medal match on Tuesday. India made 216 for 3, the highest team total in women’s cricket at the Asian Games, and bowled Sri Lanka out for 69.
