WALDORF, Md. — A painful tooth does not become less painful because someone lacks dental insurance.
That reality is part of why Health Partners Inc. exists.
The nonprofit medical and dental clinic has served Charles County since 1992. It began with a mission to help residents who lacked health insurance and could not afford treatment.
A $45,325 fiscal 2027 grant from the Charles County Charitable Trust will help Health Partners continue that work. The funding will support dental care for residents in need.
A Dental Home For Adults And Children Sisters Michaeleen and Gladys Marie of the Sisters of the Holy Cross founded Health Partners.
The organization first relied on doctors who provided free care in their own offices. In 1996, Health Partners moved into the Old Waldorf School.
Health Partners added its dental clinic in 2007.
Today, the organization offers medical and dental care for adults and children.
Dental services can include exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges, partial dentures and dentures.
The clinic serves uninsured residents and patients covered by Medicaid, Medicare and certain commercial insurance plans.
