Helena, Mont. — A full-scale aircraft emergency exercise took place at Helena Regional Airport to test how airport teams, airlines and emergency responders work together during a crisis.Airport crews and fire personnel practiced putting out flames on an aircraft as part of the training.The Federal Aviation Administration required the airport and Helena-area partners to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise like this every three years. Airport Director Jeff Wadekamper explained the goal was to keep people and property safe at the airport.He said the drill gave every group a chance to work through its role before a real emergency happens.“Everybody is able to coordinate their role in an emergency like this so we can focus on command and control, communication, coordination.
