Chinese President Xi Jinping will continue his state visit to the United States on Thursday, following a high-profile welcome from President Donald Trump at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday that included two B-1 bombers flying overhead.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump are hosting Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, for the first state visit to the White House by the Chinese leader in more than a decade. The visit is expected to include bilateral talks and a state dinner, with trade, artificial intelligence, national security, Taiwan, and the war in Iran among the issues likely to be discussed.
The White House has planned an elaborate schedule for Xi’s visit, including the formal arrival ceremony, military demonstrations, a state dinner, private tea, and a visit to the National Archives.
