The James Williams Middle School boys and girls cross country teams each came away with wins at their home meet Thursday Sept. 10, hosting Lakeland, Antigo, Three Lakes, Prentice, Merrill, Crandon and the Rib Lake-Prentice co-op. On the girls side, Antigo’s Layla Tainter took first place. The Hodags placed two runners right behind her, with Avery Clark finishing second and Naomi Borkenhagen third. Also scoring points for James Williams were Evelyn MacFarland, Brielle Calhoun and Avery Verbist. The Hodag boys were led by Fielder Leuth, who won the race, with teammate Channing Waksmonski right behind him in second. Also scoring for James Williams were Dawson Ruetz, Jacob Baumann and Casey Waksmonski.
