North Carolina had every opportunity to make Tait Reynolds look like a true freshman making his first career start.
Instead, the Clemson quarterback left Saturday's game looking like one of the nation's most promising young players.
Reynolds was named 247Sports True Freshman of the Week after helping Clemson erase a 14-point deficit in a 28-20 win over UNC at Memorial Stadium. The recognition only makes the Tar Heels' first loss of the season sting a little more.
UNC had Clemson exactly where it wanted it.
The Tar Heels jumped out to a 14-0 lead and carried a 17-6 advantage into halftime. Reynolds had thrown an interception, Clemson had yet to reach the end zone and North Carolina appeared positioned to spoil the freshman's first start.
Then Reynolds settled in.
The freshman completed 20 of 29 passes for 215 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding 26 rushing yards. More importantly, he completed his final seven passes for 115 yards as Clemson took control in the second half.
