Here's what to know from this week:
Three of the St. Croix River Valley's main communities approved their preliminary budgets for 2027. Bayport, Lake Elmo and Stillwater city councils each approved their respective budgets which will each impose tax increases.
A Hugo woman was sentenced to three years of probation and 180 hours of community service on Sept. 10 for threatening Minnesota House Speaker and Gubernatorial candidate Lisa Demuth.
Last week the Washington County Attorney's office announced the sentencing of Rachel Welsh, 43, who pleaded guilty to one felony count of threats of violence in July.
The Gazette will host candidate forums in early October ahead of the midterm election. Across three days, candidates for state and local races will be have the chance to speak on key issues. Check out the lineup and how to watch the forums here.
