Swiss connectivity group Huber+Suhner AG (HUBN.SW), announced on Friday that it has agreed to acquire the Connected Intelligence business from UK-based Motion Applied Ltd., expanding its rail communications offering with software capabilities.
The deal adds Connected Intelligence's Fleet Connect platform and strengthens Huber+Suhner's rail communications growth initiative by combining software with existing hardware such as antennas, cable assemblies and switches. The company said the acquisition will enable it to deliver end-to-end connectivity solutions for next-generation rail systems.
Connected Intelligence, based in Woking, UK, has about 45 employees and has worked with rail operators including Deutsche Bahn, Brightline, Amtrak and Avanti West Coast. The business will be integrated into Huber+Suhner's Transportation segment following closing, subject to regulatory approvals.
On the Swiss stock exchange, shares of Huber+Suhner were gaining 4.44 percent, changing hands at 188.20 francs.
