It was a back-and-forth battle in Faribault on Tuesday night in terms of possession between the Falcons and Owatonna Huskies boys soccer teams. You wouldn’t guess it was looking at the final score though as Owatonna pulled away in the final 15 minutes of the game to win 6-0.
The Huskies recorded their third straight shutout win with the victory, with it being their second straight win by a score of 6-0. They were coming off of a 1-0 home win over Austin and a 6-0 road win over Farmington from last week.
This was Owatonna’s first victory over the Falcons since the 2023 season, as the teams tied at three in 2024 and the Falcons beat the Huskies last season 2-1. Entering the game, the Huskies were 2-2 in Big 9 Conference play this year while Faribault was 0-2.
Both teams had multiple opportunities to score in the first half and Owatonna was the only one to capitalize. Senior Jack Hawkins executed a beautiful throw in on Faribault’s side of the field and senior Luis Rosas was able to put the ball in the goal for a score. The goal took place with just over 11 minutes remaining in the first half.
