Identification of Two Motorcyclists Killed in July Crashes in Colorado Springs

Motorcyclists Killed in Separate Accidents in Colorado Springs

Authorities have confirmed the identities of two motorcyclists who died in separate single-vehicle accidents this past July in Colorado Springs.

Incident Details

On July 19, Johnny Givens, aged 27, lost his life after his motorcycle failed to navigate a roundabout on Drennan Road at high speed; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation indicated that Givens was traveling at excessive velocity when the crash occurred.

The second incident involved Richard Mondragon, 60, who lost control of his bike near North Weber Street and East Bijou Street on July 27, resulting in his fall. He succumbed to his injuries the following day. A passenger riding with Mondragon was hospitalized but is reported to be in stable condition.

Additional Information

Both riders were not wearing helmets at the time of the accidents. As of 2025, Colorado Springs has recorded 32 traffic fatalities, matching the same period last year.
