The latest weekly report from the National Agricultural Statistics Service indicates that farmers logged four suitable days for fieldwork during the week ending July 27. Topsoil moisture levels were predominantly adequate at 73%, with 8% considered short and 19% surplus. Subsoil moisture was mostly sufficient, with 66% rated as adequate, and minimal shortages noted. Corn development advanced, with 92% reaching the silking stage—surpassing last year’s 86% and the five-year average of 89%. Additionally, 35% of corn was in the dough stage, up from 32% last year and exceeding the five-year average of 27%. Crop condition assessments showed 54% of corn in good health and 17% excellent. Soybean blooming reached 81%, slightly below last year’s 87% but above the five-year average of 77%. Pod setting was at 50%, compared to 56% last year and the five-year average of 43%. Soybean health was rated mostly good, with 48% in good and 17% in excellent condition. The winter wheat harvest was nearly complete at 99%, close to last year’s 100% and above the five-year average of 98%.
